How To Develop Rock Hard Abs
Everyone would like to have rock hard abs, but many people are not sure how to go about developing theirs. If you are serious about building abs you can use a combination of concerted effort, diet and exercise to strengthen and develop your abdominal muscles.
Over time a sedentary lifestyle and an incorrect diet can leave you with excess fat and skin around your abdominal region. If you are tired of not being able to wear tight fitting shirts because you are embarrassed by your flabby stomach now is the time to start taking active steps to change the shape of your body.
Exercises that focus on the abdominals include sits ups, crunches and knee raises that can be done in a seated position on your couch or on a chair. Another alternative is to lay on your back on the floor and to lift your legs in a straight arc, from the hips, to over the head. You can brace yourself by holding onto the base of a couch or the legs of a sturdy chair legs.
Repetition is the key to building well-defined abdominals. If you are very unfit or have weak abdominals, do a set of ten to twenty repetitions, interspersed with a one minute break before repeating. Each week, build on your progress until you are able to do at least one hundred crunches or sit ups. You need to work at this on a regular basis to start seeing visible results.
Next thing to focus on is your diet. Say goodbye to foods high in sugars, rich creamy sauces and high fat foods if you are really serious about defining your abs, because no matter how much you exercise, you cannot define your stomach area unless you adopt a healthier diet. Cut out all sugary cold drinks and alcohol for a start.
Oily fried foods with high fat content and high sugar foods should be replaced with fresh vegetables and healthy fruits. Swap out fatty meats like pork and replace with low fat fish like tuna or salmon and chicken. Drink plenty of fresh water and start eating small regular meals rather than larger, less regular meals.
Include other cardiovascular exercise in your new fitness routine. There are many types that you can do and just a few to mention are jogging or cycling and you can also do pilates or yoga for building lean muscle. Persevere, keep a regular exercise routine and healthy diet and you too can have strong, defined abs.
