It would be best to avoid going over 400 calories or else that would just be a full blown meal. Fruits and vegetables are the best when it comes to finding low calorie alternatives. Try all of the options you can think of and keep counting!
You should probably pack a snack before you go out to do something if you can. Having a healthy snack handy will allow you to pass up buying an unhealthy snack wherever you are at.
